Brisbane based software developer, Pronamics, has been announced Winner of the Queensland Family Business Award in the 1st Generation Category. Held in Brisbane yesterday, the Family Business Awards recognise family businesses that are committed to applying best practice management principals and demonstrate good corporate citizenship.
Pronamics was founded by husband and wife team Glen and Anne Townsley in 2001. Their oldest child Ben has followed his parents into the business, as has Ben’s wife, Johanna. In 2006 rapidly increasing staff numbers necessitated a move for the business from the living room of the Townsley family home to their current offices at Geebung. Pronamics currently employs 11 full time staff with customers in 13 countries.
Pronamics’ flagship product, Expert Estimation, was first developed by Glen to enable him to work from home and assist Anne to care for their middle child, Christopher, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and requires 24 hour care. Glen, a civil engineer and estimator by trade, had to teach himself how to program in order to develop Expert Estimation. Following the market success of Expert Estimation, Glen developed Expert Project, an on-site project financial management program.
On the significance of winning the Award, Glen says, ‘It recognises our commitment to our family, our staff, our customers and our community. Although we are based locally as are a majority of our staff, we are global in our approach with customers right across the world. I never would have imagined our business being where we are today, let alone winning an award such as this.’
The Family Business of Australia Awards is run by Family Business Australia. As Queensland Winner, Pronamics will go on to compete at the National Awards to be held in Cairns in August.  For further information regarding the awards visit www.fambiz.com.au.

Gingerbread Decorating Competition Prize Awarded

Jeremy Harrison and Pronamics Operations Manager, Johanna Townsley
We know Christmas was forever ago but USB pole dancers are hard to find! Jeremy Harrison has finally been awarded his USB pole dancer prize for his winning entry in the 2007 Annual Pronamics Gingerbread Decorating Competition.
When asked for comment, Jeremy informed us that due to his busy lifestyle he has not actually got her dancing yet but is planning to have her grace his desk at home (not work!) shortly. Thanks to everyone who entered, we’re looking forward to this year’s entries already.

Rebbecca Bernhardt and Darryl Fink join the Pronamics Team

Desk space is becoming a premium at the office lately but for good reasons. We’ve sold so many new licenses that we’ve had to add two more positions in the support and development team. Rebbecca Bernhardt has joined us in the role of technical assistant providing technical support to our customers and Darryl Fink as our support officer will be providing technical support as well as getting his hands dirty with some programming. Next time you or your team calls through for technical support don’t be surprised if you are connected to Rebbecca or Darryl.
