Introductory Expert Estimation
This course takes the user through the major features and functions of Expert Estimation; from setting up a new project through to submission of a tender.
Recommended for:
- Beginner users and those seeking an overview of the features of the program
- Long term users who would benefit from a refresher of Expert Estimation’s features and capabilities plus an overview of any new features
At completion of the course you will be able to:
- Find information using the Help file
- Use libraries to store resources and Cost Estimate templates
- Use the Direct Cost Schedule to list items that directly contribute to your project
- Import and export information to and from other programs such as Microsoft Excel
- Work with formulae and perform calculations and spreading
- Create and use Roll-up items
- Work with Base and Group resources
- Work within various estimating modes
- Apply margins and profit to project costs using the Project Summary screen
- Perform analysis
- Select and print reports
Course prerequisites:
- A working understanding of the Microsoft Windows operating system
- A basic understanding of First Principles estimating

Advanced Expert Estimation
This course examines Expert Estimation’s features in further detail, enabling users to have a more complex understanding of the features and capabilities of Expert Estimation.
Recommended for:
- Experienced Expert Estimation users. To enrol in Advanced Expert Estimation you must have completed an Introductory Expert Estimation Course at least 6 months prior
At completion of the course you will be able to:
- Configure Expert Estimation’s options to suit your individual requirements
- Perform Resource Quotation analysis, import Group resources from other projects, calculate Resource rates and perform Direct Cost Subcontractor comparison
- Perform takeoffs to calculate area, volume and totals
- Use advanced spread options including spread grouping, individual overhead spread and nominated formulae
- Perform detailed cash flow analysis
- Prepare a budget using cost codes
- Use the RateTrak tool to record production data from other sources
- Use the Resource Flow, Cost Code Flow, Cashflow and Item Grouping Summary advanced analysis screens
- Operate the multi-user option
Prerequisites:
- You must have successfully completed the Introductory Expert Estimation course at least 6 months prior

Introductory Expert Project
The Introductory Expert Project course takes the user through the major features and functions of Expert Project from setting up a new project through to a detailed analysis of a project.
Recommended for:
- Beginner users and users who require an overview of the features of the program
- Long term users seeking a refresher of Expert Project's features and capabilities plus an overview of any new features
At completion of the course you will be able to:
- Find the information you require using the Help function
- Import an Expert Estimation project into Expert Project
- Import Contract and Overhead item details
- Enter and manage available resources using the Resource Explorer window
- Add and allocate cost codes
- Enter periodic resource usage onto the Resource Time Sheet to generate your project costs
- Sort and filter records in the Cost Explorer
- Calculate Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP) using the Recorded Project window
- Create progress claims
- Create extensions of time
- Use the Project Action list
- Use the Budget Performance window to analyse cost code performance, forecasting and cost to complete
- Produce and print reports
